BPA's partnership with public utilities is one of our highest priorities; to ensure our efficiency programs continue to meet our customers' needs BPA is exploring opportunities to strengthen its program offerings. In collaboration with out utility customers, BPA willr esearch program models and ideas to advance program offerings in the residential and commercial sector.

The Regional Energy Efficiency landscape is dynamic and changing (What got us here won't necessarily get us there) and this research will provide support in assessing opportunities, delivery models and market and technical barriers in order to enhance residential and commercial sector energy-efficiency offerings and customer support.

BPA has contracted with D&R International and Milepost Consulting. The research contractors have:

  • Conducted an extensive literature review to explore new trends, successes, approaches and opportunities across the nation;
  • Interviewed national and regional experts to understand successful national and regional delivery models, measure opportunities, infrastructure support and program designs;
  • Facilitated a utility brainstorming session to elicit ideas, gauge support and prioritize key focus areas.

Currently, the project team is fielding a questionnaire for public power utilities to gain feedback on new program models and ideas. BPA will use the recommendations for this research to strategize and plan for the future of our programs and offerings.
