Description

A relay with a timer that delays the furnace fan shutoff to extract residual heat from the furnace mass and ductwork and distribute it into the heated space. The devices can be retrofitted into the furnace or installed at the thermostat.

This product has significant market transformation barriers, and its function is covered through other, more attractive mechanisms:

  • Requires retrofit of existing air handlers or thermostats, which may be problematic for liability and warrantees
  • Delay timers exist in many commercially-available furnaces
  • Delay timers exist in smart thermostats

Further testing and evaluation was recommended by the testing laboratory.
