GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Senior Outreach Manager is responsible for designing, leading, and managing outreach strategies to reach and support program participation of diverse customers in Energy Trust service territory throughout the state. Through a regular schedule of outreach activities, this position invests in and maintains relationships with stakeholders and customers, with a focus on outreach to communities of color, to facilitate deeper awareness, participation and leads for Energy Trust programs and accomplish other organizational goals. As a member of the outreach team, the Sr. Outreach Manager helps to establish partnerships with community organizations and identifies approaches to reach and serve diverse customers. Based in the Communications & Customer Service Group, the Sr. Outreach Manager works closely with organization leadership, other outreach managers, and internal colleagues.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintains regular contact with customer, community groups, stakeholders, business leaders, utilities and other entities to facilitate participation of communities of color in Energy Trust programs, offers and services and achieve diversity, equity and inclusion participation goals, and develops new relationships.
  • Leads planning, strategy development, and implementation of community engagement and outreach activities, identifying opportunities to partner and provide information about Energy Trust’s role, programs and services to a broad range of diverse individuals and organizations, including community-based organizations.
  • Serves as a resource for efforts that engage communities, community-based organizations and diverse customer and stakeholders, utilizing best practices and guiding to approaches and program offers that achieve goals and deliver community benefit.
  • Maintains knowledge of program offerings available to customers of all types and contributes insights regarding customer and stakeholder perspective to help shape program offers.
  • Identifies events for Energy Trust participation or development. Participates in these opportunities through staffing, organizing or referring the opportunity to other resources.
  • Recommends and establishes memberships and sponsorships and serves as a member of statewide, regional and local committees.
  • Serves as a member of the Energy Trust outreach team and other teams and supports the development of processes, systems and tools for outreach, community engagement and stakeholder relationship management.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills and a commitment to the organization and the communities Energy Trust serves by leading effectively and demonstrating a deep understanding and experience around diversity, equity and inclusion practices.
  • Utilizes customer relationship management information system for documenting outreach activities.
  • Prepares briefing memos, presentations, talking points, content for reporting and other communications; contributes to the development of communications tools and resources for outreach needs.
  • Serves as an Energy Trust spokesperson and delivers presentations, designs and facilitates meetings to large and varied audiences on Energy Trust, its programs, services and impacts. Presents to Energy Trust boards and councils.
  • Identifies opportunities for staff and senior leadership to develop relationships that will lead to collaborations, joint promotions, sponsorships or other opportunities that lead to program participation and the advancement of clean, affordable energy for all.
  • Ensures follow-up in response to stakeholder, community and customer requests. Works closely with outreach, diversity, equity and inclusion, program, policy services and communications staff to coordinate response to external requests and customer needs.
  • Undertakes other assignments on behalf of Energy Trust.
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

 

Guides work of employees and contractors. May supervise staff.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Minimum of five years of experience relevant to responsibilities described above, with at least four years in a role leading outreach and community engagement activities. Supervisory experience and budget responsibility preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience relevant to community engagement practices and stakeholder relationship management approaches preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience planning, organizing and leading community engagement initiatives and events, and mobilizing outreach resources to achieve success. Ability to prioritize, and plan for effective implementation of projects and strategies.
  • Strong connections in Oregon with communities of color, community-based organizations, communities, businesses and other stakeholders, and awareness of events, memberships and other opportunities for outreach.
  • Knowledge of community, utility, business and public organizations, structures and processes supporting community engagement or community development. Knowledge of energy efficiency and renewable energy development programs preferred.
  • Experience organizing and clearly presenting information to public, business, government and community audiences. Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated skill in engaging people from a variety of backgrounds, facilitating teamwork, and negotiating solutions among parties with divergent needs and interests.
  • Experience serving as a spokesperson.
  • Strong sales, customer service or public relations background with experience directly assisting customers at events and in other settings.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office suite, especially MS Word and MS Powerpoint.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team. Excellent judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Capable of performing own administrative duties in a fast-paced work environment, with strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to interact with a diverse workforce and be comfortable working in culturally diverse settings and groups.
