 The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • RESNET HERS Rater accreditation, or similar credential.
  • Knowledge of and experience in construction, green building and building science.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially in clearly communicating technical information.
  • Ability to interact on a professional level with design and construction professionals.
  • A strong work ethic and efficient work style, including the ability to work well both independently and collaboratively.

  • Ability to safely carry loads up to 50 lbs upstairs and to climb ladders on construction sites.
  • A valid Washington Driver’s License, for regular travel primarily in Greater Puget Sound area and Washington State.
  • Computer skills: REMRate, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office.  Ability to work efficiently and effectively with computer programs to compile well designed and organized documents.  Fast, accurate typing skills are required.

 The ideal candidate will also possess one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction, design, engineering or environmental science.
  • At least five years of experience in construction management – Project Engineer, Assistant Super- or Superintendent
  • Building performance testing and diagnostics experience.
  • Experience with energy auditing or facilities management in existing residential and commercial buildings.
  • Other sustainable building credentials – i.e. LEED Green Associate or LEED Green Rater, BPI Building Analyst, PHIUS Rater, Certified Sustainable Building Advisor, Built Green Verifier.

 Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct field inspections and performance testing for single-family and multi-family residential buildings to support the following programs and services:
    • LEED for Homes – Green Rater;
    • Built Green – Verifier;
    • NGBS – Verifier.
  • Conduct on site construction verifications – typically at pre- insulation, pre-drywall and substantial completion – to verify energy efficiency, durability and other green building measures.
  • Performance testing (blower door, duct blaster, and exhaust fan testing, infrared thermography).
  • Building science technical assistance and field training for sub-contractors.
  • Work with project teams, performing plan reviews, reviewing documentation, updating rating system workbooks, completing required forms, and updating project lead on progress.
  • Provide energy and water consumption modeling, and other appropriate analysis services for projects where needed.
