Most SEM program offerings include an energy intensity model, and most seek to translate model results into performance tracking visualizations and tools that are used by SEM participants. The CUSUM is a data visualization approach used to illustrate energy savings (or waste) over time.

The problem is, the CUSUM is often hard for those that do not regularly deal with data to grasp and understand. There is an opportunity to improve how we illustrate energy savings performance such that it is more widely accessible among the industrial community.   Efforts to improve will have the impact of generating deeper and more consistent adoption of energy intensity models as a method of tracking energy performance within an industrial facility.

This Topic Team of the NW Industrial SEM Collaborative was formed in 2016 and is led by Brian Crumrine of Cascade Energy.
