Regional Strategic Market Planning is a collaborative process among Northwest utilities, NEEA and other regional energy efficiency organizations. This site is the home for the Consumer Products Collaborative to share documents and discussion throughout the planning and implementation process.
Why a Regional Collaborative?
The purpose is to align the region on longer-term goals in specific markets, improve coordination in the region, and maximize cost-effective, long-term energy efficiency opportunities. In May 2016 the Collaborative completed the Regional Strategic Market Plan for Consumer Products. The regional plan provides a10+ year strategic view of the market, sets a shared vision and goals, and identifies key strategies and roles & responsibilities for NEEA, utilities and other regional energy efficiency organizations. The plan can be found at https://conduitnw.org/regionalstrategy.

In 2017, the Steering Committee prioritized heat pump water heaters (HPWHs) as the top regional product priority and set the following shared, regional goal: By 2023, 30% of all electric water heaters sold annually in the region are HPWH. It is believed this is the timeframe and market share that will be necessary to sustain manufacturer interest in the product and influence the national standard. Quarterly, the Steering Committee will review the region's progress towards the goal and identify what additional regional support or collaboration is needed.
