Welcome to the CBSA Interest Group group for comprehensive updates and discussions on the 2016-2019 CBSA efforts.

The CBSA is a periodic regional study that provides a database of commercial building information for the Northwest. It’s expected to be representative of the region's existing commercial building stock. The CBSA database includes more than 250 variables for each site, including building type and functional use, building size, detailed information about building envelope, fenestration, lighting, and HVAC equipment. NEEA leads the CBSA project in partnership with stakeholder work groups that provide technical expertise and project guidance on sample design, building data variables, and customer outreach.

In early 2017, NEEA began work with a team of contractors focused on study design and sampling procedures to guide the CBSA. By late summer, the proposed plan was used to craft an RFP for field work. That RFP will be available in early October 2017. Source documents, including the work of the planning team and proposed sampling and data collection documents are available in the "resources" linked to this page.

Results from prior assessments are available at neea.org/data. For more information, please contact Dulane Moran at dmoran@neea.org.

Proposed study design documents published. A study design document describing proposed sampling approach and edits to data elements (collected during on-site field audits) is now available. Also available is a list of data elements and variables to be collected. Both documents are resources on the CBSA Interest Group site and will serve as background documents for a forthcoming field work RFP.
