Combi systems can be set up in applications where one appliance is used to provide domestic hot water (DHW) and space heating. The combination of a hydronic air handler unit (AHU) and a condensing water heater can provide gas energy savings in residential applications if the appliances are correspondingly engineered and integrated.

The NTI Combi Gas Water Heater/Furnace is the only completely integrated one-box combi system. It has a Navien tankless water heater engine built into the furnace.  The NTI Model# GF200 has an AFUE rating of 97.1% for space heating and a UEF of 96% for domestic hot water heating.

The advanced combi technology utilized in the NTI  unit is well-aligned with trends toward low-load homes- including high performance homes, multifamily, and the low-income sector. The NTI combi unit it is currently offered at only one capacity of 80 MBU. It has a retail MSRP of $5,800 and weight of 250 pounds and this presents two market barriers that will need to be overcome.  Offered as an "up-flow" only model this may provide challenges to some markets (especially retrofits) where the unit cannot be located in a basement or crawlspace.

The Gas Technology Institute (GTI) has completed testing of this NTI Combi unit as part of the UTD Project Number: 1.17.E and GTI Project # 22173.
