People love Strategic Energy Management (SEM), but that’s not because it’s easy. With effort, utility customers that participate in SEM programs can realize substantial savings from operations and maintenance measures. Longer term, engaging in SEM programs offers the possibility of transformation, changing business culture and capability, clearing institutional barriers to EE and deepening the relationship between business customers and utility program administrators.  This session will explore the impact of SEM on businesses and the programs that serve them. A panel discussion with practitioners including Energy Champions from businesses and program implementers, administrators and evaluators will focus on the business case for SEM, the learning edge of current challenges and future opportunities presented by this type of holistic program design.
