The Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for outreach support and project deliverables associated with customer and community engagement, stakeholder relations, and policy services activities managed by Energy Trust’s Communications and Customer Service group and will bring a focus on serving communities of color. These deliverables require coordination, writing, facilitation, project planning and tracking, critical thinking and public presentation skills with a customer-service orientation. The Community Outreach Coordinator works with Energy Trust staff and contractors, customers, external organizations, and community, utility and public agency representatives. The Community Outreach Coordinator also uses and facilitates use of systems that allow for efficient tracking and management of activities and relationships, including events, memberships and sponsorships. The Community Outreach Coordinator participates on teams and attends customer, stakeholder and community meetings and events. This position will help the organization support relationships with community-based organizations, engage and serve communities and customers of color, rural communities, and customers with low and moderate incomes.
  • Support outreach staff on identifying and implementing outreach initiatives and events designed to engage customers and stakeholders with a particular focus on communities of color.
  • Coordinate outreach, community engagement and policy services tasks; apply coordination skills, convening teams and maintaining effective communication with team members.
  • Facilitate and manage outreach projects establishing and following projects plans for general events management, community engagement activities, stakeholder relationship management, materials production and distribution, executive director presentations and outreach meetings. Coordinate with external contractors as needed to complete projects.
  • Work directly with community-based organizations and support their participation in grant offers or sponsorships. Support development of new approaches to work with community-based organizations to increase participation in programs by communities of color.
  • Assemble data and information, post and share in internal systems and track in stakeholder and customer relationship management system.
  • Support outreach team in documenting application of DEI lens to plans, initiatives, and activities to ensure consideration of diverse customers is integrated into outreach work.
  • Receive and process event, membership and sponsorship requests and coordinate decision-making among appropriate parties; in consultation with outreach managers determine if Energy Trust is able to participate based on established guidelines and coordinate with Energy Trust representatives participating at events.
  • Attend events that engage customers, stakeholders and communities and help represent Energy Trust in those settings. Help identify opportunities for Energy Trust staff to be visible at events.
  • Facilitate the use of tools that allow for efficient workflows and management of work including, but not limited to, events, memberships and sponsorships, public relations, customer stories and media consent, and outreach materials review.
  • Coordinate, develop, write and deliver emails, newsletter and web content, PowerPoint presentations and other documents.
  • Attend team, group and other meetings as assigned, take notes and provide updates that facilitate coordination among the teams. Support scheduling of outreach collaboration meetings.
  • Perform all functions of the job in a safe manner.


  • This position has no supervisory responsibility, but may assign work to temporary staff and external contractors.




  • Ability to effectively engage with a diverse set of customers and stakeholders to share information and invite input, with strong interpersonal skills to support proactive engagement with the public in an outreach setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum two years of experience coordinating work related to outreach and community relations or working in a coordination/project role for a community-based organization – or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working and engaging with diverse customers and stakeholders. Experience supporting, working in and engaging racially diverse communities required.
  • Highly effective organization skills and ability to lead, manage and coordinate numerous outreach efforts and projects.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to capture and share meeting content.
  • Ability to interface with team members throughout the organization, independently and as a supportive, contributing team member.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with SharePoint a plus.
  • Experience with databases, customer relationship management system or similar software preferred.
  • Must be able to interact with a diverse workforce and be comfortable working in culturally diverse settings and groups.
  • Proven customer service orientation.
